up to

another monday.....

i'll start off with something entertaining:

this picture was taken on my way home from the lake of the ozarks in missouri.

eat here, get worms?? not really a worthwhile trade-off, i'd say.

what i have been up to: researching things for my poppa's website (goal is by the very latest to complete it by the end of august... so far i have made zero progress, woo), organizing and scanning old pics for molly/matt's video for their wedding and for the guestbook (wedding's in october), getting things (as the maid of honor) in order for molly's wedding, reserving and getting organized for molly's bachelorette party in september, working two part-time jobs (everyday), enjoying my summer and my break away from school.  i will update again when i have new artwork to show... only thing's i've created this summer are a couple of paintings that i gave to friends as house/apartment-warming gifts.

another photo to leave behind of my lovely ole missouri:

gradumacated and whatnot

in early may, i graduated with a bachelors of science in arts technology.  i would like to follow it into the graphic/web design and new media world.  shortly after that, i turned the ripe age of twenty-two... three years away from being twenty-five, a quarter of a century [oh dear].

currently, i am in champaign, working two part-time jobs (soon to be three, hopefully) and am interested in full-time hire.  as many know, two part-time jobs do not equal a full-time, ha!  so i am scoping out champaign-urbana for potential jobs to kick-start my career, while looking nation-wide as well.  please let me know if anyone you may know is looking for a fresh college grad in design!!!

thanks and have a lovely day, ciao :)

week of april 16-19

here is a breakdown of the rest of my week: very exciting for me [serious, hardly any sarcarstic undertones]:

thurs: mtg @ 10 with advisor helping troubleshoot why my website for independent study will not show on my domain name, enviro health exam, extra credit presentation @7:30-9, preparation for tomorrow's blono improv event ("clueless shoeless"), get all of images figured out and put them on website, mail 4 letters, continue working on software design 2 final in second life (that i know nothing about, hooray).
fri: sit on quad from 10:45-4:30 documenting with video and photography "clueless shoeless" taking place, resolve any other issues with website which will be 1001 since there always are, begin editing for video of "clueless shoeless", hopefully able to get enough done to go out with friends since i have 2 1/2 weeks until i graduate and am lame this final semester of undergrad and have too many deadlines to ever make it out.
sat: springfest 09 in downtown bloomington (although doubt i will make it to this and it sucks since i am finally legal), homework homework and more homework which will probably consist of trying to figure out and piece together next idea for blono improv for the upcoming week and also trying to figure out how to do really anything useful in second life for sd2 final, driving to peoria to meet for lunch and catch up with former freshmen year roommate when i went to bradley my freshmen year, return from peoria, do more and more homework.
sun: church with boyfriend (because my soul sucks and i prefer piece of mind compared to total damnation), work noon to six and have a work meeting taking place sometime in there (only happiness here is that monday equals payday and that i am 5 days away from [hopefully] my final minimum wage college job), dinner with at least one glass of wine, bed early or fall asleep watching a movie/reading/studying.

then begins only one more full week of hell to meet final deadlines! and then a week (sorta) off with an enviro health final thrown in there, as well as a golf final, and then graduation may 9th. scary. oh, and somewhere in there is a hair appointment to chop some dead-ends i've have since mid-november.

very successful past week

for my integrated media two class, i've been working on a social disruption project titled "blono improv interventionists", which i have talked about on here before.  the title of this post is in reflection of that.

very excited that last week, we pulled off our very first (successful) event of public disruption!  it took place in the watterson dorm elevators on campus [if you are unfamiliar with illinois state's campus, that is the very tall dormitory that mostly freshmen and sophomores live in; i lived there my soph. year when i transferred to isu] and was called "iPOD iMPROV".  we had three participants (jen, mike, and tom) who walked onto a particularly full elevator, ipod earphones already in their ears, listening to tunes.  the plan was that would go into action after the first load of students got off and as soon as the elevator doors closed again, they would begin dancing to what they were listening to and proceed to get off one by one at the next available stop.  jen was the first to get off of the elevator while mike ended up being the last (he danced the longest, probably close to three minutes! i was so surprised and happy!), and once they walked off were supposed to act as nothing happened and continue their "daily" routine and walk away.
as soon as the last dancer walked off the elevator, the one guy that was left on riding with me started laughing and was like, "ah, that was great! what's that for? a class or something?".  so i explained what i was doing it for, what class, the project's name, to check it out on facebook myspace blogspot twitter etc, and he seemed super interested! which is always a plus! and said he would check it out!  so slowly but surely things are beginning to matriculate through the campus; hopefully it will last awhile!

borrowed video camera

i was meandering through the cyber world when i came across "stumble upon" many months ago.  i think i started an account, although never followed through with it.  the other day, a friend sent a link through stumble upon, which i then proceeded to play and navigate throughout the site; didn't realize many months ago how interesting it could be!

i then went further and joined several other social networking site, such as shelfari (for reading) and mog (for music).  and i am searching for an interesting one for movies, as well.  it is interesting how vast the technological world is simply via the computer [ i know, wow what a super intelligent thought, way to dig deep with that gem ] but seriously! i never knew how many different kinds of social network groups they are out there! and just a few weeks ago i joined artbistro, a quirky little site that connects you to fellow artists -- it's amazing! i am a huge fan of all these sites!

and the only thing i have to say that has any relevance what-so-ever to the title of this post is that i borrowed the integrated media 2 vid cam to document my public project going on tomorrow, of a social disruption.  hopefully will have info up on here soon about that!

back from breck

BRECKENRIDGE 2009 SPRING BREAK
this spring break decided it would be best to decide to do something fun, rather then go to the usual sunny/warm option -- breckenridge! i went with the schauers, and michelle and her family were there as well. it was a blast! finally mastered snowboarding (FINALLY) and the only injury i acquired was a bruised tailbone, no biiiig.

that's me outside the back of our condo; it was a ski in/ski out right on a run, that ends right next to another lift.  it was a great location on a great mountain! (don't mind my super burnt lower half of the face haha)

progress

Steadily making progress on my vision with the Blono Improv Interventionists!!!  I quickly created an email (blonoimprov@gmail.com) and a wiki for a former classmate and I to communicate back-and-forth on about ideas for possible "interventions".   He is helping collaborate on this; I think it is a good idea for both of us -- I could really use all of his resources/contacts/knowledge that he has for something like this and he can put this on his portfolio, like me, and wanted to be an active part of this project.  I am very appreciative of all his help that he has given me this far and will for the project.

I plan on creating a myspace page today as well to help "advertise", if you will, about Blono Improv Interventionists.  Also, we will soon be creating a website: for people to come to view, find out what Blono Improv is all about, see the progress of our ideas, and then later view videos/documentary of the interventions themselves.

He and I met over the weekend, discussing ideas so we should be thinking of an idea shortly and then can put it in action soon... it is very exciting that this is finally going to get off the ground!  I just can't believe what a positive reaction I received with it, simply via the facebook group I created.  So many people are interested!  So we will soon see where it's going to go, hopefully in a playful way that will make people laugh... perhaps think about things differently (on a deeper note) but nonetheless, make them smile.

it is a work in progress and i am still working out the kinks to what the actual interventions will be. i will keep the page updated as i figure something out.

thursday

on first snow day of 2009, i found that sleeping in was a luxury. pathetically enough, i had a dream i was a vampire last night/early this morning (reading the twilight books before bed has side effects).

on a side note, the purpose of this post is to show a few examples of some inspirations i have found via youtube.  i think that these are worth watching and i enjoy each of them and the way they handle the typography within the mini-movie [follow the hyperlinks]:
fight club typography (acid burn)
typography poem made by a graphic design student, john weiners
i really like this one, it's clever: "typolution"

the fifth of january

my very first blog ever. ever. weird feeling, in a way.  i just received via email a notification, saying i needed to apply for graduation soon -- latest, by the twenty-first.  it is very hard to believe that the end of my undergrad is simply five months away.

instead of thinking about that, i will go get ready for work.
